Health to find a qualified Labor/Delivery RN in Devils Lake, North
Dakota, 58301! Job Title: LDRP RN Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour
Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience:
Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS NRP
Preferred: ACLS, STABLE, TNCC Must-Have: Experience in Labor and
Delivery, Nursery, and newborn stabilization Ability to float to
Medsurg/Peds Description: This position is in a Level I Nursery and
OB unit with responsibilities that include floating to
Medsurg/Peds. The unit has four L&D beds, and C-sections are
done in the operating room. Labor RNs will accompany patients to
the OR for C-sections and stabilize babies for transport back to
the nursery until mothers are back in approximately 30-45 minutes.
Postpartum recovery occurs on the floor for two hours after
C-sections. The unit typically sees around 250 births per year.
Nurse staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines with a 1:2 couplet
ratio, which will change if laboring. Common patient diagnoses
include preeclampsia, cholestasis of pregnancy, and repeat Cesarean
sections. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin and
magnesium sulfate, among others. There is no Charge Nurse on each
shift, but a coordinator is available to assist. Anesthesia is on
call and located nearby. RNs are responsible for troubleshooting
nasal cannula and some CPAP equipment. Telemetry responsibilities
are minimal, and reading strips is primarily the doctor's
responsibility. The unit uses a GE corometrics EFM system.
Self-scheduling is allowed to fill in gaps as necessary. Weekend
and holiday shifts may be required based on unit needs. Dress code
requires navy scrubs. Effective communication, hard work, teamwork,
