Job Description:

Rural Psychiatry Associates is currently recruiting for a Psychiatrist to join our team. At Rural Psychiatry Associates it is our mission to bring skilled providers and quality care to people and locations that otherwise are unable to easily access mental health services, causing many people to go untreated. By joining our team, you will be sure to make a difference to rural and remote areas by providing mental health care to patients of all ages through hospitals, clinics, schools and senior living facilities across the nation. Rural Psychiatry Associates is an independently owned psychiatric clinic that provides in person and telemedicine services to more than 140 practice sites throughout North Dakota, Minnesota, Utah and Alaska.

The Psychiatrist will be responsible for a number of tasks, including but not limited to the following:

  • Provides medication assessments and treatment
  • Provides patient education regarding medication and treatment options
  • Provides community support programs, and completes education and marketing activities
  • Participates in emergency intake, assessment and treatment
  • Develops working relationship with physician and primary care providers
  • Provides ongoing medication management
  • Provides prompt reply to clients' needs regarding return phone calls and prescription refills
  • Provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment of new clients
  • Provides consultation services to nursing homes and other sites as needed.
  • Participates in clinical supervision provided by administration and consulting psychologist/clinician and other required meetings as assigned
  • Provides clinical supervision for RN, ARNP, CNS, PA (all mid-level practitioner staff)
  • Completes other job-related duties as assigned
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality as defined in policy and procedure for RPA
  • Maintains competency in accordance with the age-specific needs of the patient; consistently demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate services and care in accordance with client age and the unique needs herein
  • Obtains and documents all required and pertinent patient information accurately and within established time frames
  • Adheres to treatment schedules with various disciplines and programs
  • Will actively develop outpatient clinical practice
  • Monitors effectiveness initiating and practicing quality assurance methods
  • Communicates patient progress and accurately documents in Progress Notes and/or Intakes
  • Identifies significant changes or high risk situations in patients condition and take appropriate actions as evidenced in reporting, consultations, and documentation, i.e. fatigue, irritability, aggression
  • Maintains the therapeutic milieu
  • Ensures the intervention or referrals are made promptly
  • Assists colleagues and staff as needed

Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a current Doctorate in Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy license in the states you are practicing, which could include North Dakota, Minnesota, Utah and Alaska, or any other states where practice may be added. Candidate must also possess or have the ability to obtain DEA number for prescribing medications. Board Certified/Board Eligible is preferred.
