graduate of accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as
a RN or LPN in ND. Wage depends on experience but starting ; LPN =
$24.85/hr; RN = $31.81/hr JOB LOCATION Hankinson, ND PERSONAL
Professional appearance and demeanor. Good physical and emotional
health. POSITION SUMMARY The primary purpose of your job position
is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily
nursing care and services and supervise the day to day nursing
activities of the facility during your tour of duty in accordance
with the resident’s assessment and care plan, current federal,
state and local standards and as may be directed by your supervisor
to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained at
all times. RESPONSIBLE TO Director of Nursing, Assistant Director
of Nursing, Administrator PERFORMANCE STANDARDS 1. Demonstrates
skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to carry out the
technical and clinical aspects of their job in a quality manner. 2.
Utilizes the nursing process effectively: assessment, planning,
intervention and evaluation. 3. Effectively communicates with
residents, family, MD, other staff and supervisor in a timely
manner. 4. Effectively supervises nursing department staff ensuring
policy/procedures and care plans are followed. 5. Accurately and
effectively documents resident assessments, etc. 6. Performs any
other duties as assigned by supervisor. 7. Is able to organize and
prioritize projects. 8. Must have basic computer skills or be able
to acquire them. 9. Must be able to communicate and process
information accurately. 10. Adheres to Federal/State regulation and
guidelines, including Resident Rights. 11. Conducts self and
perform duties following Mission and Philosophy of St. Gerard’s.
12. Has a pleasant manner, good grooming and hygiene. 13. Is
flexible, open to new ideas, results orientated and dedicated to
continuous learning. 14. Participates in effective and creative
problem solving with other team members to achieve positive
outcomes. 15. Must be able to display tact, empathy and good
judgement in dealing with varying situations involving residents,
residents’ families, visitors, management, physicians and staff.
16. Must be able to participate in facility and department Quality
programs for regulatory compliance, quality of care indicators and
positive resident outcomes and satisfaction. 17. Must be able to
work well with others and maintain harmonious relationships with
co-workers. 18. Able to participate in Safety and Infection Control
programs for protection of staff and residents. 19. Must be able to
safely perform the essential job duties, with or without reasonable
accommodation, without posing a direct threat to other employees,
residents and self. 20. Gives direction to Nursing Assistants,
Medication Technicians, Ward Clerks and Paid Feeding Assistants.
21. Receives supervision and direction from the Director of
Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and Administration. 22. Must
be able to push/pull up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally
and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than
negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects for
such tasks as pushing a medication cart, an occupied wheelchair,
performing CPR and moving resident care equipment and supplies. 23.
Must be able to perform simple and complex manipulative tasks, such
as writing, using keyboard, filling/drawing up and administering
injections, removing and applying dressing, inserting catheters and
administering IV solutions. 24. Frequent standing, walking, sitting
and reaching away from the body are required. Occasional stooping,
bending, twisting, turning, climbing, reaching above, at and below
shoulder level are also required. 25. Must be able to deal
effectively with stress created by multiple tasks, noise and
interruptions on a frequent basis. Must be able to work
cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a
pleasant demeanor. Must be able to manage frequent exposure to
stress related to working with ill resident and their families
combined with residents who may be confused, irrational, highly
agitated, combative and given to frequent abrupt mood swings. 26.
Must have visual acuity to identify residents by sight, observe
call lights, identify people entering and exiting facility and
unusual occurrences. Near-sighted visual acuity to read typed and
written material, read syringes, thermometers, blood pressure
readings, assess changes in resident’s condition and monitor
equipment. 27. Must be able to hear and distinguish normal sounds
from background noise. Must be able to distinguish sound via
stethoscope and distinguish respiratory status of residents. 28.
Must be able to detect the smell of smoke and unusual odors in the
environment. 29. Expected to respond to emergency situations
involving the safety of residents, other employees and guests.
