Job Description:
Sports Medicine Physician (MD/DO) Position Summary The Sports
Medicine Physician provides comprehensive, non-surgical medical
care for patients with sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal
conditions. This role focuses on injury prevention, diagnosis,
treatment, and rehabilitation of athletes and active individuals
across all ages and activity levels, utilizing evidence-based,
patient-centered care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage patients with sports-related and
musculoskeletal injuries Diagnose and treat conditions such as
sprains, strains, fractures, overuse injuries, tendon disorders,
and concussions Provide non-operative treatment including
rehabilitation planning, injections, and bracing Perform sports
medicine procedures consistent with training and privileges (e.g.,
joint injections, ultrasound-guided procedures) Manage acute and
chronic musculoskeletal conditions in athletes and active patients
Coordinate care with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists,
athletic trainers, and primary care providers Provide sideline or
event coverage as required Educate patients on injury prevention,
conditioning, and return-to-play decisions Maintain accurate and
timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement,
patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Supervise and educate
residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff
as applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and
professional standards Qualifications Doctorate within specified
field of medical practice from respective accredited school. Must
be admissible to sit for either the Canadian or American Board or
be certified by the Canadian Board and are members of either the
Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Surgeons, American
board certification or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)
board certification. Board certification in area of specialty must
be obtained within five years of employment. Must be granted
medical staff appointments and associated facilities as are
necessary to the commission of duties prior to commencement of
employment. Must be i nsurable under the Health System s
professional liability carrier prior to commencement of employment.
Be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or
Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which they
are assigned. Skills and Competencies Expertise in sports medicine
and musculoskeletal care Strong diagnostic and clinical
decision-making skills Proficiency in musculoskeletal examination
and procedures Excellent communication and patient counseling
abilities Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary
care teams Commitment to evidence-based practice and
patient-centered care Work Environment Outpatient sports medicine
clinics, training facilities, and event venues Limited inpatient
responsibilities depending on practice model Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout clinical and athletic
environments Manual dexterity for musculoskeletal examinations and
procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient
assessment and sideline coverage
