Job Description:
Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Physician (MD/DO)
Must be a licensed MD/DO in ND and MN Position Summary The
Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Physician provides
comprehensive care for patients with pulmonary disease, sleep
disorders, and critical illness. This role includes inpatient
critical care management, pulmonary consultation, and outpatient
pulmonary and sleep medicine services, working collaboratively with
multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based,
patient-centered care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide direct care for critically ill patients in medical,
surgical, or mixed intensive care units Evaluate and manage acute
respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, and multi-organ dysfunction
Diagnose and treat pulmonary conditions including COPD, asthma,
interstitial lung disease, pulmonary infections, lung cancer, and
pulmonary hypertension Provide outpatient pulmonary clinic care and
inpatient pulmonary consultation services Diagnose and manage sleep
disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea,
insomnia, hypersomnia, and circadian rhythm disorders Interpret
sleep studies and manage positive airway pressure and other
sleep-related therapies Perform and supervise procedures consistent
with training and privileges, including bronchoscopy, airway
management, mechanical ventilation, thoracentesis, and vascular
access Interpret pulmonary diagnostic studies including pulmonary
function tests, imaging, and sleep studies Participate in rapid
response, code, and emergency airway teams as required Lead and
participate in multidisciplinary ICU rounds and care coordination
Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding
clinical status, prognosis, and goals of care Supervise and educate
residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff
as applicable Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes
initiatives Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and
professional standards Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical
school Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
program Completion of an accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care
Medicine fellowship Board-eligible or board-certified in Pulmonary
Disease and Critical Care Medicine Board certification or
eligibility in Sleep Medicine preferred Ability to obtain and
maintain unrestricted state medical licensure DEA registration or
eligibility BLS and ACLS certification Skills and Competencies
Expertise in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine Strong
clinical judgment and rapid decision-making abilities Ability to
manage high-acuity and complex patients Excellent communication and
interdisciplinary teamwork skills Commitment to evidence-based
practice, quality improvement, and patient safety Work Environment
Intensive care units, inpatient hospital settings, outpatient
pulmonary and sleep clinics, and sleep laboratories Call and
shift-based scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays as
required Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout
ICU, hospital, and clinic environments Manual dexterity for bedside
and procedural tasks Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for
patient monitoring and emergency response
