Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Shift (3x12s) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered Nurse License required; temporary RN license and RN Graduate Work Authorization accepted prior to start Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of start - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of start - Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) preferred Must-Have: - Accredited Registered Nurse License - Educational and professional competence in PCU Job Description: - Provide direct nursing care following the organization's established policies, procedures, and protocols. - Maintain necessary knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care. - Facilitate coordination of patient care within the interdisciplinary care team and provide patient education for safe discharge. - Conduct daily rounds to ensure quality customer service and address any unmet requirements. - Develop a care plan based on comprehensive assessment, reflecting the patient's diverse needs. - Assess, intervene, and reassess pain symptoms, and take appropriate action. - Identify warning signs of changes in patient condition and respond appropriately, including contacting clinicians. - Assist with or initiate emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions. - Report and record pertinent patient observations and reactions accurately and promptly. - Complete and submit all incident reports before the end of each shift. - Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and significant individuals. - Initiate discharge planning, education, and counseling based on identified needs to optimize patient/family understanding. - Evaluate and document patient care according to standard operating procedures. - Assign or delegate nursing interventions safely based on the scope of practice, education, and experience. - Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet department/organization needs. This position requires holiday coverage, using EPIC EMR, in a facility with a bed size of 0-49. Bilingual ability is not required.
